Artists Hideaway Reviews

We really enjoyed our stay at Artists Hideaway it was a perfect place for us whilst attending the Keswick Mountain Festival. Off road parking and plenty of walks off the doorstep. The property is clean and spacious with everything you need. The shower and comfy bed are most welcome after a day out walking. The weather wasnt so kind to us so we didnt make full use of the outdoor seating but itll be lovely on a nice day. The front porch and porch door definitely need a tidy up but its a useful space to remove muddy boots and wet coats. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Keswick.
Gerard
Fantastic place and accommodation perfect. Great welcome pack. Very nice hosts. Great place to do some walking and to unwind.
Lovely cosy cottage in perfect location. No faults I can think of. If Im being really picky then giving the outside of accommodation a little bit of a tidy and quick lick of paint would make it even lovelier. Owners left a lovely welcome pack and accommodation had everything we needed, main bed was super comfy and lounge really really cosy

We had a wonderful time in Artist Hideaway, very comfortable, and a garden for our little dog. The facilities are excellent, it is warm and cosy, and exceptionally clean. The walk into Keswick we loved, we do hope they will have us back next year.
This was my second stay in Artist's Hideaway . . and it won't be my last! Wonderful property with a handy outside enclosed porch for boots etc. Lovely, well equipped kitchen. The living room looks out onto the pretty little garden which has a back gate for easy access onto a footpath leading into Portinscalethe Derwentwater walking route The logburner was most welcome in the chilly March weather with a starter pile of kindling and logs I took extra with me Central heating is easy to control too. The bathroom is WOW! a great double width walk in shower with lots of storage cupboards too. Fabulous bedroom with plenty of storage and an extremely comfortable superking size bed. Excellent quality bed linen too. Parking for one car right in front of the property. Very dog friendly although the gareden isn't entirely enclosed Lovely welcome pack with milk, a lovely variety pack of delicious biscuits and a bottle of red wine unfortunately I don't like red .. white yes! But it will be regifted If I were to want anything any different it would probably be a comfier chair .. the sofa is fine but the chairs aren't too comfortable to sit in for too long. A great property for a couple plus one single bedroom ... but I enjoyed it all to myself! Highly recommend
We really enjoyed our week staying here, perfect location, we barely used the car all week, lovely walk into Keswick from the cottage, some lovely fell walks straight from the door including Cat Bells, Walla Crag etc. Facilities were great, we had everything we could need, really quiet place to stay. Beautiful garden, shame it was February so no opportunity to sit outside. Very warm and cosy, bed was very comfy. Shower was great. Cannot fault any part of it, a lovely gesture of wine and biscuits when we got there. Nice pub in Portinscale, lovely little cafe round the corner they do a fab bacon sandwich and dogs are welcome. Would definitely return here, it was perfect.
Kenneth
Lovely cosy cottage, spotlessly clean, and well equipped for self catering, bed very comfy and large, good shower and a cracking stove fire. Perfect location and parking a bonus. Will be back.
Pamela
Lovely place in a quiet setting. Very dog friendly. Near walks and pub a short walk away. Would recommend.

Artists Hideaway was very cosy and pleasant. The main bed was so comfortable, bedding and decor was lovely and the whole place was warm and cosy. Great shower. Lounge sofa and chairs were not the most comfortable to sit in but not bad. One suggestion would be to set the Smart TV up to enable viewing of BBC iplayer, connect to your own Netflix account etc. We were unable to obtain any channels other than the main terrestrial channels and the free channels provided, which was disappointing. Autumn holiday nights are a good time to catch up on tv programmes and we were a bit limited. Wifi was good. Kitchen appliances excellent, I like to cook so it was great to have a decent cooker to use! Garden area was pleasant but we didn't really use it due to the weather. Overall a very nice stay and we would use again if in the area and if the TV was upgraded!
Extremely warm and comfortable. Very well equipped. The garden was lovely and ideal with having a dog fenced in and quiet. Good walks from the door and also easy walk into Keswick. We certainly would visit again.

We had a great week the property was in a great place for walking out straight from your door . My dog had a fantastic time the garden was just the right size . their is a gate at the back of the garden tern right and then left. At the bottom of the lane go right and you will find a lovely walk round the lake . The only thing i can say that might need thinking about is the sofa and chairs .It would make this property perfect if their was a 3 setter sofa that reclined we found the that the chairs gave us backache .but i would still go back
Our 2nd visit to this delightful accommodation. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Great location for exploring Keswick which is an easy walk from the property, and further afield to explore the beautiful Lake District. Hosts are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recommend this property for a break away.
Artists hideaway was very clean and presentable inside. Outside could do with a bit of updating and some maintenance in porch entrance. Location is good plenty of walks and activities in walking distance. Keswick town centre is about 2530 mins walkaway. Local pub farmers arms 5min walk good atmosphere good beer and food. Wine Milk and biscuits on arrival.
A lovely stay, perfect location for walks in Borrowdale, Newlands valley and beyond. We clocked up 75 miles! Lovely comfy bed, welcome pack much appreciated. Hoping to return.
We had a lovely stay in Portinscale. It was a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the country. Everything we needed within the property was available. The welcome pack was much appreciated.
The bungalow was exceptionally clean and comfortable, the only negative was the outside space, the lovely bushes shielding the lane had been removed and the garden was now open to the lane which was a shame. The garden would benefit from a tidy up but apart from this we did enjoy our holiday.
Debbie
Wonderful home from home with everything you need. Comfortable, clean property in a fabulous location, with many walks from the doorstep.
Lovely stay at Artist Hideaway, everything we needed on our doorstep. Great walks within easy reach from the cottage especially into Keswick. Bus service if you want to get into Keswick to go further afield.Went to the Farmers Arms just down the road nice pub but very pricey so would recommend the Derwent Water Hotel ,lovely surroundings and relaxing drink in the gardens.Ann the owner very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble if you need anything.
Stephen
A lovely quiet place away from the hustle and bustle but near enough to Keswick. The cottage is well equipped with all you need for a comfortable holiday. We would happily return and fully recommend it.
A delightful comfortable holiday home with everything you need. A perfect enclosed garden for the dog and good walking straight off the property. A quiet and peaceful location with an easy walk into Keswick. Can highly recommend and we hope to return.
Antony
Great little cottage in a secluded location.
Had a lovely stay at the Artists Hideaway our 3rd visit. Nice and clean and comfortable Weather was really warm which was a bonus and loads of walks nearby
What a fabulous little property! Private car parking, very dog friendly with equipment and treats for your 4 legged friend. Lovely private outside space with garden furniture. The gate in the fence giving access to the path for walking into Keswick or along to Lingholm. Superbly equipped kitchen. Fabulous bathroom with double walk in shower. The super king size bed was super comfy! Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space too. The log burner was very welcome after being out fell walking some logs, kindling and coal provided Central heating kept everywhere lovely and warm. Very nice welcome pack of milk, a bottle of red wine not a fan personally but the family will enjoy! and a superb biscuit selection. My only mark down on the comfort score is for the living room furniture .. but that's just me being too used to putting my feet up on recliners! I made use of the footstool instead. Anne the owner was really lovely and not at all intrusive. I could happily live in this lovely little property! Even before my week's solo stay had come to an end I had book
Beverley
Lovely clean, well maintained property in a perfect location for walks. Our 5th visit. We will be back next year. Thank you.
Amelia
We absolutely loved our stay at the Artists Hideaway. The property was super comfy, warm and clean. It was lovely having the wood burner. The kitchen had everything you needed. And thank you for the biscuits, milk and wine! It's in a lovely location, a short walk from Keswick, and on the doorstep of lots of beautiful walks. We'd definitely recommend it. Thank you!
My 2nd time at Artists Hideaway and as comfortable, clean and warm as before. The location is perfect with fantastic walks from the doorstep. There were just a couple of things which needed attention. The extractor fan in the bathroom didnt work. Externally a little bit of tidying up would make a huge difference. However the changes to the driveway were great and made parking much easier. Hopefully these comments will be viewed as constructive not a criticism as Id definitely like to return
Friendly owners who provided a comfortable home away from home. The location is excellent to explore the area and come back to a delightful cottage.
Artists Hideway is a comfortable quaint accomodation we met the owner on a few occasions & was was immediately put at ease friendly & welcoming.
Excellent property,well equipped and comfortable.
First time weve ever stayed in the same cottage twice, but we loved it so much the first time we had to! Super cottage, well equipped, comfortable and great location. Perfect for walks from the door, walking into Keswick, catching the bus or just relaxing. We had another wonderful stay, thank you
Comfortable and very clean cottage. Well equipped and quiet situation. Convenient for walking in the northern lakes and forests.
Eunice
We liked the Property very much and if visiting The Lakes in the future we would stay here again there were no faults to find at all. Just the weather could have been better.
Good week away in comfortable and very clean accommodation, in ideal location for walking from the door into Keswick, to Derwent Water and beyond. The icing on the cake was spotting an otter by the bridge on our first evening there. Thank you.
Frances
Don't be put off by the first sight of Artist's Hideaway it doesn't look attractive! Go inside and see the accommodation and experience the comfort of the furnishings and the extensive and thoughtful equipment provided. The owners next door were very helpful and pleasant. The cottage is very well placed to reach many points of interest whatever you may wish to do. We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to others.
Angela
It was our second visit to this property and once again we found it clean, warm cozy and in a perfect position for some amazing walks. The hosts live next door and are there if you need them but dont intrude at all. We will definitely return thank you.
Philippa
Superb time at this lovely place. It was clean and homely. Mabel the dog and us really appreciated the treats that the owners gave us on arrival. Thank you.
