About Garth Cottage

Garth Cottage is a 19th century stone built property situated above Porthmadog's historic harbour, with far reaching views to the Snowdonia/Eryri National Park (to the north) and to the south east, along the Rhinogs. With convenient roadside parking and welcoming one well-behaved dog, this inviting abode is perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a seaside escape filled with relaxation and adventure. Step inside, and you’ll find a well-appointed kitchen/diner, fully equipped for rustling up delicious meals to share with your nearest and dearest. Just next door, a practical utility room with a washing machine makes longer stays that bit easier. After a day of exploring, settle into the welcoming sitting room, where you can put your feet up and catch a film on the TV, complete with an Amazon Fire Stick for all your entertainment needs. When the temperature drops an electric faux log fire brings a welcome touch of warmth. Outside, the front terrace overlooking the harbour and distant views is furnished with benches and slate table and is a great spot for morning coffee/breakfast and to enjoy the comings and goings of The Ffestiniog Railway opposite and the water activities in the harbour. To the rear, a terraced garden offers a peaceful retreat with outdoor rattan effect furniture (with cushions) and table, perfect for soaking up the lunchtime/afternoon sun. When it's time to retire for the night, head upstairs to find two inviting king-size bedrooms both with harbour and distant views, offering a serene sanctuary for a rejuvenating night's rest. Serving these rooms is a sleek bathroom, complete with a bath and shower over where you can indulge in a soothing soak after a day of adventures! Venture out and immerse yourself in the charming town of Porthmadog, with its picturesque setting and attractive Victorian architecture. Feed your adventurous spirit by visiting the magical Portmeirion (across the estuary), an Italianate village, architecturally unique in the UK. Recapture the romance of yesteryears at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, offering breathtaking views of Snowdonia while you travel in style, through the mountains to Blaenau Ffestiniog or north west through Snowdonia National Park to Caernarfon. Soak up the town's rich history with a visit to the Maritime Museum, giving an insight into the town's maritime past. Be sure to visit Borth-y-Gest Beach, a picture-postcard of a place with the brightly painted houses along the main street perfect for coastal walks, paddling, picnics and eateries - (within 10 minute walking distance from Garth Cottage). Head to the white sandy Black Rock Sands, a 2 mile long beach, unusually accessible via car, so easy for children and watersports paraphernalia. After a long day of exploration, retreat back to Garth Cottage, the perfect coastal sanctuary for a memorable getaway.
