Grange Fell (Borrowdale) Reviews

Could not fault the place perfect location for good walks and the lake. The cottage is well equiped and comfortable. The cafe next door dose a fine breakfast and the mary mount hotel is an easy walk and dose great food. We would highly reccomend this cottage for a relaxed comfy hoiliday and we will be looking to go again in the future
Shelly
Beautiful cottage, wellappointed position in the village. Stunning views from each window. Very well equipped. Simply perfect.
On the whole this is perfect place for scenery and peace. Lovely walks from the cottage. Well equipped, and comfy beds. After arriving & two days rain, lovely sunny weather. Keswick is a nice town, and we finished our holiday with the Lake tour 50 mins15 per adult, dogs free. We would stay here again, such a good location. Our only negative found shower extractor fans temperamental, and storage heaters not too warm for long. We purchased sack of logs from Keswick which made very toasty especially the dog.
Richard
Lovely location cant fault the accommodation. Being Dog Owners found that the Garden was very small and not secure for larger dogs as low wall. Not a problem though for smaller dogs. The kitchen would be even better with a Dual Zone Air Fryer and would save on the Oven usage and energy. Having said that we had a very enjoyable holiday and the location is superb.
We had a lovely stay at Grange Fell. The location is excellent with lots of walks on your doorstep and views surrounding the house. We were a party of 4 but there would be ample room for 6. Keswick is a perfect place in the lakes to explore from with beautiful drives in every direction. I would highly recommend here for a visit to the lakes
Fantastic, comfortable and homely stay in a wonderful location. We loved this home away from home for the week. Such a well equipped house with quality furnishings and appliances. All beds were super comfortable too. The house is modern, bright and airy and very clean. We were a family of four but six adults could happily fit in here. It was really handy to have allocated parking too although on one occasion someone had parked in the space.... but it is clearly marked The wonderful cafe next door was a big bonus too. Walks on your doorstep, easy access to Keswick. I cannot praise Grange Fell enough and cannot wait to return.
Shelagh
Comfortable, well equipped cottage in gorgeous location. We 5 retirees had a great week, walking, talking and relaxing. Would certainly recommend.
Lorraine
What a perfect location. Cafe next door is amazing. Walks on the doorstep. We barely used the car. Rooms spacious and house is well equipped. Bus stop virtually opposite the house. We had a brilliant holiday.
Maggie
One of the best cottages we've stayed in in 40 years visiting the Lakes. Very comfortable and very wellequipped, lovely decorfurniturepictures, and of course Grange is such a great base for walks etc. Amazingly good waterpressure for glorious fast hot baths! We hope to be back.
Eleanor
The property was comfortable and homely, in a perfect location. The owners had thought of everything and the cottage was extremely well equipped. We will certainly return!
Fantastic spot. Cottage is a good size and comfortable. Kitchen was very well equipped. Far better than your average holiday let.
We booked Grange Fell for New Year 202324 after seeing the positive reviews on the website. However, when we arrived the place wasn't as spotless as we were led to believe. The cleaner had missed cobwebs over ceilings, around the walls and skirting boards and around the fireplace. The fireplace also had not been cleaned, and the glass was filthy. We cleaned all of the above ourselves. The top of the fridge was also disgusting, which we cleaned. We were also not left any initial supply of logs or firelighters, and despite contacting the number for caretaking did not get any response. There were a number of issues that we highlights by way of a note on our departure, which we discovered over the course of the week. The shower in the main bathroom did not get hot, in fact it was freezing. The power switch was turned on outside the bathroom as we checked. The washerdryer did not dry and kept erroring. There was mould growing in the corner of the en suite room, quite badly also, and the whole place needed updating and at the very least a lick of paint. It was also quiet cold on an evening, despite the provision of oil heaters, which were more like space heaters. We were to say the least disappointed, especially as we paid over the odds of a New Year week. We loved the area however and the cottage did provide a good base for exploring, but we will not be visiting again.
A fabulous location, walks from the door, great cycling, kayaking and swimming in derwentwater, then of course having a lovely cafe next door is perfect. We were 4 very active adults and 1 border terrier and found the cottage welcoming, very comfortable and lots of space for us, 2 porches for muddy boots, large bedrooms, there were even hot water bottles! There was nothing more we could have asked for. Keswick is just a few minutes away with supermarket....they also sell logs, handy if you need more for the wood burner. Great places to eat and drink....the Borrowdale Gates Hotel seemed happy when we turned up for a stiff drink after climbing Scafell still in our walking gear. Also great pub in Stonethwaite.
Kathryn
Grange Fell cottage was spotlessly clean . Great kitchen with quality crockery and overall very well equipped , Very quiet location just 510 mins drive into Keswick. Loads of walks on the doorstep. We were there during a very warm, sunny week but I would imagine cottage is very cozy in the winter months . Only negative is that main bedroom could do with black out blinds as it is very light from very early in the morning !
Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. 2 min walk from bus stop. Cafe next door for breakfasts and snacks. No pen so could not write in the visitors book to say thankyou for the nice wine. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need, very clean and comfortable.
Christopher
Lovely cosy and comfortable cottage. Great location, so many good walks from the doorstep.
Richard
Lovely cottage with good sized accommodation and super soft beds. Plenty of well designated parking, entrance porches front and back, large family kitchen diner, comfortable lounge, master bedroom suite, big second and third bedrooms. Everything you might need and more! A great choice for a family holiday!
Great house in a great location, especially because there is a bus stop right in front of the cottage, meaning we used the car less than we thought we had to. The house itself is very spacious and well equipped. There are plenty of great fellwalking and hiking opportunities nearby, and even a river for a quick dip. All in all we had a very enjoyable time at Grange Fell and would definitely book the house again should we decide to return to Borrowdale. Im also pleased that rescheduling our stay twice due to Covid travel restrictions in 2020 and 2021 was no problem at all.
Fantastic home in a fantastic location. All you need to have a great time with walks on the doorstep, no need to use car unless you want to. Beds were so comfortable and all agreed we would be back in the future
This cottage is a pure delight. The setting, the views, the facilities and great owners. Couple of issues were dealt with really quickly and didn't detract from break. Only blow was our favourite local cafes, including the one next door, were shut as it was January, Would definitely return
The property had everything we needed and Grange is situated in a brilliant location for great walks and accessing other Lakeland towns, whilst still retaining a village feel about it. Weather too was excellent, which always helps!
