Parking a bit tight but great to have. Great for shops and buses which we used most days. Lovely view of mountains when appeared from the clouds. Too room only used once but would have been great if more than 2 wanting different activities Kitchen well equipped and beds comfy The only fault would be a few extra dinner plates which says how good it was
Michael
A very well appointed and comfortable cottage in an ideal position for access to the town and the lake. The ensuite was a welcome facility as was the well equipped utility area. Parking was a challenge as the space provided is very tight. A BMW 4 series will just about fit!
Jacqueline
Great location in the centre of Keswick. Plenty of shops and pubs nearby and walks from the door. Lovely cosy cottage, perfect for four and our two dogs who were also made to feel very welcome. Would love to visit again next year.
Another lovely stay at Cats Bield. Warm and inviting. Our break was over far too quickly. And being Keswick, it didn't matter if it rained for most of our stay.
Excellent stay 2nd time and it did not disappoint. Fab location in centre of Keswick close to all shops and pubs and loads of walks. No need to use your car can walk from the house. Parking at the house is tight but we have a large estate car and managed my husband is good a parallel parking but if you arent confident there is a car park opposite which you can pay to use. Highly recommend and I am sure we will be back.
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location, thank you. Very dog friendly and our toddler loved it too! We'd read about the parking in other reviews. Our car Skoda Octavia with a roofbox fit fine under the archway. The parking space was a bit tight depending on how the neighbours parked their car, but the information in the listing was accurate, and we didn't actually use the car all week. There's also free road parking nearby.
Perfect location. Lovely clean cottage. Had everything you could need. No garden for dogs but grass nearby. Will definitely be using again.

Such a delightful little cottage right in the heart of Keswick! We didnt need to touch the car all week! The owners of this property have gone above and beyond to ensure that guest have what they need dishwasher, washing machine, Tassimo coffee machine.. even a spiralizer!! The bedrooms provide ample room for storage of clothes and belongings in lovely oak furniture along with comfy beds and heavy snuggly bedding! The downstairs living area provided a relaxing area to recover from a busy day of exploring. With the added bonus of the upstairs snug, giving our teenager her own unique space to unwind. A highchair and travel cot were provided for our baby, it was clean, safe and perfect for our needs. The fitting cat decor adds to the quirkiness and uniqueness of the property. Whilst we didnt take any dogs, it is clear they are well catered for. 2 dog beds, food bowls and even towels to dry your beloved pooch after a wet day on the fells! One thing to be aware of is parking! There is space for a car in the back, to access this guest need to be aware of the low archway to access it take care of you have a tall car and a roof box. We saw a couple of people scrape their roof box on the way into other properties!

July 2025 Fabulous place very welcoming loved the gifts Wine, biscuits, milk, tea & coffee clean tidy, beds really comfortable, towels super soft, plenty of hot water whenever needed, local to the centre of Keswick just perfect location, Will definitely be back Perfect break & the weather was great Thank You x
After an initial set back all was good . Location was excellent. Beds very comfortable. Would stay again for sure , but I would probably book through another agency . The sykes communication over the stated initial set back was far from satisfactory. I'd also suggest more info being made availlable regarding parking access height , for larger vehicles with roof box . There was a weird cheese like smell in main bedroom resulting in us purchasing a deodoriser from the coop to freshen up the room when window wasn't open. I think a bit of a freshen up will soon be required in relation to the decor . Cats bield is as stated superbly located and I'm just highlighting a few thoughts , but , importantly as stated I would definitely recommend to friends and I would book again, so thatbsoeaks volumes. Thanks to the owners for the dog treats , biscuits and wine . Very much appreciated . Barney the Golden retriever also very happy. Thanks. Stayed from 19th to 26th July 2025. Had it not been for initial set back, I would have given top mark throughout. David

We stayed at The Cats Bield with our dog in the first week in July. We cannot have had a better stay...the property is much more spacious and I really don't think the photos do it justice. Our welcome gifts sausages for Caspar! were a lovely touch! Every thought is given for guests' comfort and it's position cannot be beaten. To top it off, Debs sent in the post some items we'd left behind. We will definitely return!
Everything wonderful apart from weather
Our 2nd holiday at The Cats Bield and will definitely go again. It is in a fabulous location in the centre of Keswick and has the added bonus of parking. We used the car once during the week, making good use of the Keswick Launch and the cheap bus service. The cottage has everything that you will need for your holiday so you can just relax and have fun.
Stephanie
The cottage was well appointed and catered for a family with dogs. Great location. Car parking is tight but good to have a space.
Kirsty
Great location and fab cottage. Very homely, comfy beds and everything you could need. Bonus of a car parking space
Cottage was lovely clean and tidy just what we needed for our holiday. Very well equipped and the sun shone for us. Cottage very central for everything and didnt use the car all week! The attic room was great and kids loved it. For those wondering about the parking I parked my Ford Kuga whilst another car was in the other space with no issues.
Tracey
We had a great stay at The Cats Bield. Warm and comfortable, with everything we needed. Our dogs were also delighted with 2 comfy beds, and treats from the 'Good Dog' tin! As for the location! You couldn't ask for more. Walkable to Keswick high street, with shops, pubs and a vibrant market twice a week. A 10 minute walk to Derwentwater. Buses around the corner to travel further afield. Fantastic views of the Catbells on your doorstop.Perfect!
Angela
Had a fantastic weekend at Cats Bield, it was very homely and welcoming and great for pets
Very comfortable home from home, ideally situated in Keswick. Very well equipped, spacious and with the bonus of an upstairs second social space. Parking isnt an issue unless you have a big car a simple parallel parking manoeuvre. Thoroughly recommended.
Lovely well equipped cottage, great central location. Off street parking a bonus!!ni problem parking our BMW 3 Series hatchback as long as you park close to the fence. Cosy and well maintained, very dog friendly, would highly recommend!!
Graeme
Great location. Have already booked to go back.
2nd time staying here and loved it still. Location is great, accommodation has everything thing you need and more. Parking is included but it is very tricky to get in and out of, that would be my only negative.
Another great holiday at The Cats Bield. Our 2nd stay here, loved it just as much as the 1st time. Well equipped, perfect location for being in middle of town. Great to have parking at the cottage too.
Beautiful cottage and central to all the shops, pubs and restaurants. Will be booking again for next year
Great cottage in great location. Highly recommend!! Excellent information provided by owner. Parking is tight but worked for us with large estate car but suggest you need to be a confident at parallel parking. Would use this property again without hesitation.
Steven
We had an amazing stay at Cats Bield the cottage has everything you could possibly need and is very clean and comfortable. A stones throw from the centre and all that Keswick has to offer. We have already booked again for next year.
Mandie
Lovely cosy cottage, close to all amenities, would stay again, was lovely and ... Lovely cosy cottage, close to all amenities, would stay again, was lovely and clean apart from skirting boards which I did clean, has kept catching my eye, thank you for treats both for humans and dogs
Spotless house. Simply but stylishly furnished. Very comfortable. Lovely bedding and great kitchen. Helpful instructions and wonderfully dog friendly. Minor bugbear with gas fire that we couldn't get to work. More major issue was the parking. Awful. We had brought a v small car but had we gone for our larger one which we had intended we would have struggled to park it in the tiny space. We were therefore reluctant to move it one parked and It curtailed our abilty to pootle around at will. I think this needs to be made much clearer in the booking information. So, a perfect central keswick spot if you arrive without a car or dont intend to use it once at the property but otherwise a bit of a challenge.
Cats Bield is a very comfortable and clean cottage. Good quality linen, comfy beds, good bathroom facilities and decent kitchen. Its very conveniently situated in Keswick.
Denise
The Cat's Bield was everything that was advertised. Beautiful and comfortable in a great location. The property is very well equipped with everything you need t just unpack your bags and enjoy a home from home holiday home. The welcome pack was much appreciated as were the many notes around the cottage with helpful information. Totally dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Allison
We had a lovely stay in the Cats Bield. Its a really cosy well located cottage with so many thoughtful touches for both two and four legged visitors. It also has the added bonus of a parking space which we really appreciated. We wouldnt hesitate to book again or to recommend it to friends.
Fantastic stay at the Cats Bield. . The property was spotless and comfortable. Location and facilities were just what you need for a holiday in Keswick. The Owners have thought of everything, it's clear they want their guests to have a safe and enjoyable stay.
We had a great stay at The Cat's Bield, a fabulous cottage in a great location. Everything was as expected and very comfortable indeed. We felt like Keswick locals for the week and enjoyed many fell walks and other activities out the front door bike hire, paddle boarding. It's also really easy to get out of Keswick so we had a couple of days out in the car to great fells around Grasmere, Thirlmere and Buttermere. Ideal base for an active break would highly recommend. Thank you!
We loved staying at The Cats Bield it was so central for everything and the parking was a real bonus. The property was clear and had everything we needed. We humans loved the wine, milk and biscuits and the dogs loved their treats too. Hattie was sorry she chewed the dog blanket whilst chewing her antler but hopes you liked the replacements. Keswick is our favourite place and we visit every year for a week and shorter breaks throughout the year, its so dog friendly and the walking is fabulous.
Andrea
Fabulous cottage we've stayed here a few times now, as always a brilliant stay, spotlessly clean and really well maintained. Great location, one minutes walk into town for all the many shops, pubs and restaurants.
Lovely property in the centre of Keswick with parking, a great find. Lovely welcome pack with special treats, a bed and towels just for the dog. Really comfortable beds with lovely bedding. Two good showers in the bathrooms. Very well equipped kitchen with a handy utility room with sink to clean up after a day out walking in the rain. The owners have put a lot of thought into the property and it shows. Will be back.
